1. Charle (UK)
Charle was formed to revolutionize direct-to-consumer strategies by balancing the most creative design with the very best technology. As a renowned Shopify partner, we form close-working relationships with ambitious brands to design and build result-focused ecommerce stores that engage, convert and capture the imagination of your customers.
We offer services to meet the needs of merchants of all shapes and sizes. From startups to global brands, we have a wealth of experience. Not only do we design and build bespoke stores on Shopify but we also support merchants on a month by month basis to deliver optimization, design and development when they need it most.
Doisy & Dam
One of our favourite projects was for Doisy & Dam, a vegan chocolate brand stocked nationally in leading stockists across the UK. We worked with them to deliver a bespoke Shopify experience that immerses customers in their amazing brand, products and community focus.
We've delivered an on-sight experience that delivers products at exactly the right moment with smart product recommendations and multiple touch-point upsells. Read the case study here.
We know already that ecommerce is growing massively. Ecommerce has been growing at a steady rate for the past decade, yet this year, with the reduced ability to shop in-store, the growth of ecommerce has been unimaginable.
At the peak of this year, percentage sales online in the UK were 34% compared to 17% last year. Although we are seeing a slight drop now, it's still huge growth for ecommerce retailers. We know from our own clients that growth of sales has exceeded 200% this year.
With the rise of online shopping, I see huge opportunity in developing new features and experiences for online stores. We've already seen a huge rise in the number of merchants not only wanting to improve their store, but also actually launching very complicated onsite experiences far beyond the norm.
My prediction is that ecommerce stores will remain seeing growth. However, they will need to compete with the very best online features in order to stay ahead - if they don't, their competitors will. We will also see a huge rise in personalised on-site experiences with targeted content, product recommendations and finally a need to communicate more with current customers through SMS and email.

2. beeclever (DE)
As one of the first Shopify specialists in Germany and the EU, currently, beeclever is a partner for major brands like Delivery Hero, Mars and Revo. The agency focuses exclusively on Shopify and the appropriate design, web development, strategy conception and Shopify app development.
In the past few years, D2C commerce has increased significantly. Brands have direct access to consumers and profits and give customers direct access to brands. This trend will change the way brands work in the digital world.
Getting new brands up and running can be really easy, but they will have to face the challenges of creating brand-appropriate user experiences, building brand loyalty, and "direct-to-consumer" conversations.
The technologies are supportively moving in the same direction. With new features like Facebook Shops, beautiful, seamless experiences can be created. An interlocking customer journey is and will continue to be the key to success, because customer expectations are always high.
There will be opportunities for premium brands in particular, creating a whole new vertical in D2C. Customers will turn directly to luxury brands for high quality products and better brand experience. D2C means building on experience. The product and the brand is the heart of the customer relationship.
When it comes to D2C brand stores, Jet Set is currently one of our most exciting projects. The luxury brand has been around for a very long time and together with Jet Set and the creative agency Stan Studios we were able to build a tailored and sustainable brand experience.
This is especially interesting because brand stores can be built with highly individualized UI and UX, making each implementation unique.
Andreas Wächter is a Shopify Plus expert and founder of German Shopify agency, beeclever. Find Andreas on LinkedIn.
3. Blend (UK)
Blend specialises in helping DTC and subscription brands grow beyond $50K of sales per month. By partnering with leading Shopify brands like Out of the Sandbox, ReCharge and Klaviyo, we've been able to create a tech stack that truly works for brands looking to grow into Shopify Plus.
We've worked with a wide range of brands including Yamaha, Absolute Collagen, and TheJimmyCase. For us, we like to work with brands focused on growth, and not necessarily based on verticals.
YFood & Due West
We've had some big wins in 2020, and we're particularly proud of a few of our projects. Firstly, we worked extensively with German brand YFood to optimise their subscription process with ReCharge, as a result of this, we helped them achieve a 150% increase in conversion rate on subscription products, which added significant long term value to the business.
Additionally, we worked to create a full redesign for Canadian brand, Due West, which has lead to some very pleasing initial results.
Looking ahead to 2021 for high growth brands, going headless will be a key focus. With the launch of great tools like Shogun Frontend, we're looking forward to helping larger brands move into a seamless world of headless ecommerce. By changing tact for 2021, this will enable brands to provide a better online experience and ultimately win more business.

4. D.TAILS (DK)
Customers partner with D.TAILS to be able to continuously grow their business – whether you need help to grow your revenue, become more efficient or improve your customer service, we dedicate ourselves to understand your customers and business before concluding on the final design – we believe that there is a big difference between trifles and D-TAILS.
Our specialization is to always deliver proven solutions – D.TAILS is built on 20 years of ecommerce experience building a leading local ecommerce brand. We have the luxury of being able to test our new, innovative ideas in our own shop and documenting the results.
Shopify is always our cornerstone and where our tech-partners do not have the complete integration, function or feature yet, we have a very strong team of professionals who thrive to close the gap with our own code and apps.
Lirum Larum Leg & FUSION
What we are mostly proud of in D.TAILS this month, is the tiny idea we had that helped toy retailer Lirum Larum Leg reduce the time to place orders by 30%, the tweak we did to increase basket size by 6% at leading fashion brand FUSION, and the new app we created that solves the accountancy headaches for many of our customers.
Shopify takes care of the fundamentals, so for D.TAILS, 2021 will be all about helping our customers convert the +30% revenue boost achieved during the corona-crisis into solid, consistent profits by leveraging our extended hands-on business experience.
Kim Eriksen is partner at Shopify (Plus) agency D.TAILS. Find Kim on LinkedIn.
5. Woolman (NL)
Woolman was founded in 2016 by three founders: Juha Harju (seasoned entrepreneur), Tero Junttila (very experienced ecommerce technology architect and enterprise architect) and Miika Malinen (former merchant at Stockmann, Happy Angler and Musti Group, among others).
The idea of the founders was to help merchants focus on expanding to new markets and growing business, instead of struggling with tech, with Shopify Plus being in the picture from the very beginning. Woolman has since launched over 200 stores and currently employs 65 ecommerce professionals.
Our strengths lie in a deep understanding of design, technology, successful store concepts, and the Shopify ecosystem itself. A few project highlights we have worked on include:
Singular Society, Kalevala & Gugguu
Singular Society: recently launched based on membership and 100% transparent pricing. Kalevala: we rebranded a classical Finnish jewellery brand and their online store. And, finally, Gugguu, a long time customer and fast growing sustainable fashion brand.
Our predictions for 2021? An increasing number of classic brands will establish D2C businesses through experiments with ecommerce. These are seemingly easy to get started with, but complexity increases when building a sustainable business model for a growing business. These brands don’t just need assistance with setting up the store but the whole process of establishing a new business model, being efficient, knowing your customer and being data-driven is essential.
Ecommerce architecture and integrations become increasingly important for successful projects. In 2020, we saw a lot of good looking projects going live, but in 2021 we will see those being integrated into the existing systems much more widely. Agencies will require deep integration skills to be able to serve the larger brands.
Headless commerce remains a buzzword for the industry, but it is no longer the only alternative for merchants using modern ecosystems like Shopify where most of the business needs can be filled with standard solutions. This offers a significant benefit in the ease of maintaining solutions and quickly developing them further. Decoupling UI and backend remains a must for those using legacy systems.
And 2021's next big trend? Live commerce.

6. CODE (NL)
CODE is a - 15 years young - ecommerce agency that has been specializing in Shopify Plus over the last 4 years. We have a history in building very complex websites and applications and we feel a huge click with how Shopify Plus has been built. We specialize in custom-built themes and we have launched private and public apps in the Shopify App Store. We are proud to say that we are now a 100% Shopify Plus Agency.
What we like the most is being successful with Shopify and Shopify Plus and seeing our clients' conversion and revenue grow while we work together. We have a lot of enterprise clients on Shopify Plus and we moved a lot from Shopify all the way to Shopify Plus and beyond. That makes our work very enjoyable!
Mr Marvis, Veloretti & Rosefield Watches
Next to Shopify Plus, we are also one of the very few Klaviyo Platinum partners in Europe. Klaviyo Platinum in combination with Shopify is almost a must if you are serious about growing your brand. Some projects we have launched - mostly re-platforms of legacy software - are Mr Marvis, Veloretti, Rosefield Watches, 10 Days, Leapp, Ti-Sento Milano, Gisou and many more.
We are most proud of work where it get's a bit technical and we try to work without apps as much as possible. A good example is the Rosefield Watches configurator, a completely 'app-less' example.
As for predicting ecommerce in 2021: we believe even more growth is imminent and you should focus on segmentation of your visitors, which is not very difficult to achieve, but doing it right is a lot of work. We also see a lot of success with merchants who focus on 2-5 countries instead of trying to conquer the world. Expanding to a new country is more than a language switch. If you do this correctly, you are king! Shopify Plus offers tools to do this the right way.
Get in touch with us if you want to find out more about this subject or see some examples.
7. Space 48 (UK)
Space 48 is a UK-leading ecommerce agency that delivers stunning, technologically superior websites for global retailers on Shopify Plus. As a distinguished Shopify Plus Partner, you can expect the very best experiences, as we support you in scaling out your ecommerce to ensure your business is recognised for its intelligence, style, and profitability.
Our influence in the ecommerce industry gives Shopify Plus confidence in recommending our full-range of services to established, ambitious retailers that want to delight their customers and internationalise their business. Across our 10+ years in the industry we've been trusted by a diverse portfolio of clients such as Richer Sounds, Missguided and Tech 21.
Quote from a partner: "Space 48 is a super, pro active partner who takes complete ownership of technical tasks, underpinned by a great deal of experience with Shopify and Shopify Plus builds. They have a vast amount of knowledge to help Shopify retailers improve their sites through a blend of technology and expert advice." - Claudia Ditri, UK Strategic Partnerships Manager at Klevu.
Tech 21's official new Shopify Plus site
One case study we're most proud of is putting the tech in Tech 21’s official new Shopify Plus site. Industry innovators Tech 21 trusted Space 48 to refresh their ecommerce with a modern Shopify site that enables efficient stock management and meaningful brand storytelling. Tech 21 is in the business of protective phone cases and is number one in the UK market.
With over 3500 SKUs, they sell premium products online and through retailers across the country - including Apple themselves. Replatforming over to Shopify from Magento gave Tech 21 a chance to start afresh. Leaving behind convoluted code and a string of bugs, we’ve prioritised better site speed, faster loading times, and clean, sensical logic to improve site performance.
Known for our tech integrations, we’ve installed friction-free experiences for Tech 21 customers, and have brought the management of those processes in-house. Automated stock management is the aim of the game - with bespoke rules that will update product feeds live with stock availability.
Then, with easy-to-use page builders, marketing teams have greater ownership over merchandising and product content allowing for more targeted promotion. Long-term protection for long-term success.
The shift to digital commerce has been steadily rising over the past few years. Even more so in 2020. Covid-19 saw to that. More and more people are shopping online, and their expectations are constantly growing.
On a positive note, this has inspired change for the everyday business owner who is seeing the value of online and who is taking the steps to digitise their services. However, inexperience in this new space has led to a challenge: the ability to nurture meaningful and profitable relationships through human online experiences. Achieving this is the Space 48 mission.
Ubiquitous across all sectors or industries, we all find ourselves asking how does one replicate the interactions and experiences one would have in-store? How can we get to know our customers properly, and connect with them on a personal level? And how can we utilise the wealth of digital tools available to make the digital feel inherently more human?
We believe, as the over-reliance on stores dissipates, getting this right will be a core objective for merchants regardless of their industry.

8. Crisp (ES)
Hailing from Barcelona, Crisp Studio is an ecommerce design, development and consulting agency. Founded in 2010, Crisp has become the leading Shopify & Shopify Plus agency in Spain.
Crisp Studio helps both new and established brands optimize their ecommerce experience and launch their ideas on the market. Our mission is to build the best stores that are not only fully optimised to sell but that also offer the best and most exciting experiences for end consumers.
Cycling clothing by Gobik
In essence, Crisp Studio builds shops that inspire. Example: Gobik, born in Yecla, Murcia, took their first steps in 2010 and now has more than 100 employees. They design and manufacture everything related to cycling clothing.
Before contacting Crisp, everything was set up, except for the connection to their ERP (SAP) so as to properly control the company’s stock, orders and clients. Crisp Studio developed a completely customised connector, creating a link between the two systems (Shopify-SAP) and allowing it to be controlled by an external interface.
As for our predictions for ecommerce in 2021: these are quite clear. Bigger companies that once were reluctant to enter the sapce are now seizing the opportunity in ecommerce. On the other hand, smaller stores will be more specialised in their own niches, bringing more focus to branding and the buying experience in their stores.
Real-life buying processes are going to be integrated even more in the ecommerce experience, where growth of pop-up stores and retail experiences is expected.
As ads are becoming increasingly irrelevant because of the new competition there will be a bigger challenge in differentiating your own ecommerce shop and in providing something unique for your clients. This is one of the reasons why Crisp Studio offers tailored app and features unseen in other shops. Specialisation is key.

9. Ask Phill (NL)
We at Ask Phill are driven by innovation and we’re always looking forward. We strive to do this by focusing on the future, in order to ensure your brand stays ahead of the never sleeping competition. Whether your needs are an implementation of an ecommerce strategy, design or development of your online shop, our team works with the most recent standards to ensure your success. We do this because this fast and innovative approach is what makes us stick out and we enjoy being on top of the game.
We understand that not every brand has the knowledge to build best-in-class ecommerce platforms in-house. This is why we are here to collaborate with your brand and build your data-driven, scalable and next-level-performing ecommerce platform on Shopify Plus.
One of our most favourite projects of last year was Fest Amsterdam, which is a Dutch furniture brand with its own flagship stores and retailers. Fest came to us from a very infant ecommerce platform and had the ambition to grow successfully in ecommerce, which was why they came to us. We were hired to help them set the strategy and migrate to Shopify Plus, which turned out to be a great success for both parties. Besides the B2C platform, we've created the B2B store, all based on one Shopify back-end.
We are proud to say, that we built the first version of the platform in only 8 weeks, which first seemed impossible. Thanks to the team working around the clock and our tech director being heavily involved, we managed to pull it off in this short time.
Worth mentioning is that due to the very specific features, we've built the platform headless. The benefit of headless is that applications impossible for standard Shopify platforms were built by our team, for instance, the "couch customizer". Looking back, we see Fest Amsterdam as one of our most challenging, but at the same time rewarding projects of 2020.
Looking ahead to 2021, we envision that the adoption of ecommerce will further accelerate due to the covid-19 situation we are all in. This means that the competition will further grow and thus innovation and data insights will be essential key pillars to stay ahead of the competition.
Only by being smarter than the competition, your ecommerce company will thrive and outperform. In terms of innovation, we expect we'll see headless ecommerce growing further and advanced data analytics will be key to win your clients in the most efficient way, grow in revenue and crush your KPIs.

10. Quickfire Digital
For ambitious e-commerce brands who want to grow quickly, Quickfire Digital is a specialist direct-to-consumer agency that redefines the client-agency relationship.
We help brands build high-impact websites, specifically on Shopify and Shopify Plus, while matching them to the right people at the right time across our wide-ranging partner network.
This is powered by the Support 6 package - our unique approach to the client-agency partnership.
This means our clients benefit from a high-performing website, incremental commercial gains and access to our 200+ e-commerce partners, peer-to-peer support groups and training and learning resources.
One of our most recent agency crushes has been on Mylee, a cosmetics brand which we helped move over from Magento to Shopify Plus.
We knew from very early on that this was going to be a perfect project for Quickfire. Why? Because it soon became apparent that Mylee wanted to push boundaries and had a passion for excellence.
They were very keen on a genuinely collaborative approach and we knew we were gearing up for successful outcomes.
Not only did we replatform but we also integrated with Mylee’s ERP system, loyalty program and email platform and developed full customisation of product and content pages.
As a result, we’ve seen significant uplifts in conversion and average order value. A beautiful result for a beautiful brand delivering to beautiful people.
The world of commerce is being turned upside down - and the future looks incredibly exciting for brands who know how to look after and speak with their customers.
If social commerce - shopping via social media platforms - takes off as predicted by some then we’re in for a fun ride ahead as physical retail, websites, marketing and social media come together in a true omnichannel experience.
The term e-commerce will slowly become less identifiable as shopping experiences and transactions incorporate elements of in-store, websites and social media: during a community event in a brand’s shop, does it count as e-commerce if you buy a product from one of the many touch screens around you?
The brands which will truly succeed are the ones who won’t talk about ‘looking to grow their e-commerce arm’ but more about delivering an amazing and complete customer experience regardless of channel.

11. Dewsign (UK)
Dewsign was founded back in 1999. Our ethos is Conscious Digital. Our clients include global brands, start-ups, SMEs and our personal favourites being the extensive pro-bono work we have done over the years. We have always built bespoke websites and software applications and created our own bespoke multilingual ecommerce platform that continues to run many businesses to this day.
Origin Coffee on Shopify
For many years we looked for a hosted ecommerce platform to use but were never happy with what we found until we discovered Shopify back in 2015. We were simply not confident enough in the other platforms available. The first website we built on Shopify was for Origin Coffee who required a shop, article content, coffee subscriptions and barista training booking. The project went really well and has been a great success for the well-loved brand.
This gave us a lot of confidence in Shopify and since becoming Shopify Experts we have not looked back – delivering numerous Shopify stores for many companies and start-ups (our personal favourite). We have since used Shopify exclusively for all platform-based ecommerce websites and have extended our custom development and middleware integration using in-house built custom Shopify Apps and API integrations to deliver some complex Shopify based ecommerce websites.
One project soon to launch that we are very proud of is for IVF Matters a UK based IVF consultancy who required a very complex integration between Shopify + Cliniko Practice Management + Hubspot + SendGrid.
The technical challenges of this project were significant and were solved with the development of a custom Shopify App to manage all workflows and an integration with Sendgrid. This allowed the client to send customised emails dependent upon the products or services customers order.
This is a significant Shopify project pushing the boundaries of what is possible on the Shopify platform and the most complex one Dewsign has built using the Shopify platform to date.
We see 2021 as the year of automation. We have been working on various new platforms complimentary to Shopify that manage business process, communications and digital marketing automations.
We see huge potential in this area driving automated, repeat and continued business through our client’s websites and are very excited about the great results and future opportunities and business growth we are seeing in this area.

12. Alaska (PT)
Alaska is a small boutique agency based in Braga, Portugal. Our journey started in 2015 when a designer with 15 years in advertising join forces with an Industrial engineer that fell in love with programming and became a front-end developer.
Since then, we worked on more than 80 projects where, for most of them, we develop a brand and digital presence from scratch. In the few last years, our focus has completely shifted to the Shopify platform, where we offer services in branding, web design/development and digital marketing. We think those are the 3 pillars of every ecommerce project. In our portfolio, we have some projects that can show some of our work, projects like Mozimpor and Frambooesas.
This pandemic situation accelerated the growth of ecommerce and in 2021 we will continue to the same pattern. A lot of people made their first purchases and became customers. We believe that in the future, ecommerce and traditional commerce will be so linked, that we will just call it commerce.
Miguel Machado is co-founder of boutique Shopify agency, Alaska. Find Miguel on LinkedIn.
13. ShopWorks (NL)
ShopWorks is a full-service ecommerce agency pushing boundaries in ecommerce. Not only our own boundaries - we challenge our colleagues to go the extra mile every single day and not be afraid to do things that haven't before. But we also challenge our clients and (tech) partners to push their boundaries.
ShopWorks designs, implements, maintains and optimizes ecommerce solutions. Together with our clients, we think along on how to bring totally new products to market and how to keep innovating.
Deblon Sports & Framewell
From early 2020 onwards, ShopWorks has also been developing online stores on the Shopify platform. We're completely convinced of the countless possibilities this ecommerce platform offers our clientele.
We've completed our first successful Shopify projects, like Deblon Sports and Framewell. Deblon Sports is a luxury women's sportswear brand that offers their collections in a select few stores in the Netherlands. Having an online store makes it possible for Deblon Sports to better answer the rising demand for their products.
For Framewell, we built a multilingual online store. Anything customers would like to see framed on their walls, Framewell will custom-build to their specifications. We developed several custom made tools for the Shopify platform, to optimize the potential of Framewell's wall decorations.
Looking forward to 2021, ShopWorks has their hands full with several new large Shopify stores. Our teams are currently working on a store selling a completely new product - to be launched before end of the year. We're responsible for design to implementation to optimization when the store's live. Next year, we're very much looking forward to scale our Shopify solutions, and pushing boundaries in ecommerce even further for ourselves as well as our clients. It's going to be an exciting year!

14. Underwaterpistol (UK)
With our unique mix of expertise, Underwaterpistol takes a creative, data-driven approach to designing, building and growing best-in-class ecommerce brands. As Shopify Plus partners, our status only reinforces the knowledge we’ve built up over the last two decades of working in the ecommerce space.
We understand that brands need more than a team of developers, so we create holistic and omnichannel strategies, powered by data, innovation and creative thinking. Our growth program has been designed to help merchants not only build and launch a better functioning site, but teach them how to grow through various channels. We don’t believe in launch days; we believe in growth periods.
Pineapple Dance Studios
Recently, we helped Pineapple Dance Studios migrate their ecommerce offering to Shopify Plus away from their legacy Magento platform. With a focus on SEO, usability and complex back-office integrations, we worked closely with the Pineapple team to successfully move them over; which saw an increased sales by 207% in just two months. You can read more about their transition to Shopify on the Shopify Plus website.
The migration helped boost the site speed by over 40%, helping improve conversion rates, user experience and even their SEO. These kinds of migrations and site improvements is what the team at Underwaterpistol really thrive on; knowing that they’re making a real difference to an ecommerce offering.
2020 was a year like no other, and going into 2021 we can expect dramatic shifts in the ecommerce world. We’re seeing ecommerce expand through to different demographics, so accessibility is going to have to be a huge factor in ecommerce. It offers up so many more opportunities for merchants and can be
CGI, 3D and AR have always been on the cusp of “taking off”, but as human interaction reduced throughout 2020, we’ve seen an increase in demand. Our Art Director, Fran, has seen many brands making the move to CGI, allowing them to produce better product experiences that can be adapted easily to their marketing requirements.
We can expect to see more of this, especially in online advertising, in order to gain a competitive advantage over brands moving online for the first time.

15. Full Fat Commerce (UK)
Full Fat Commerce is an agency specialising in designing, developing, and optimising world-class Shopify websites. We were founded in 2018, but our team has talent and reputation beyond our years, having worked with clients ranging from Europe’s fastest-growing brands to pre-revenue startups. We work with our clients on an ongoing basis on website optimisation and digital strategy to help them make the most out of their website traffic through website optimisation.
One of my favourite projects that we have recently worked on is Pai Skincare’s rebranded website. Pai Skincare has been a client of ours for a while, so when they came to us and asked us to help them with their digital rebrand, obviously we were excited to be involved. They gave us tight timeframes and a literal countdown timer (to the second) for when the website had to launch, and I’m happy to say that we achieved it and the new website went live at the same time as their marketing and promotional material.
My prediction for 2021 is volume, volume, volume. 2020 was the year that catapulted ecommerce forward 10 years. Many of the conversations we have had this year have been about moving businesses you may have previously only seen on the highstreet onto Shopify: butcher shops, independent supermarkets, and small local retailers. Customers are prepared to buy in many different ways, you need to be able to service them however they want to buy from you.

16. Nama (IT)
Based in Milan, Italy, Nama is a boutique agency dedicated to creating successful ecommerce stories with Shopify. Founded by Silvia Ciniselli and Lavinia Siardi after working at one of the main Shopify Plus Partners in Japan, it was launched with the goal of supporting the growing Shopify ecosystem in Italy, with a special focus on ethical and sustainable brands. The team is specialised on store set ups, migrations, in-depth Shopify training and consulting.
One of our favorite projects was Goooders.com - a store which is also a manifesto for responsible travel and ethical shopping. We love working with the Goooders team - an inspiring team of women determined to change the way luxury goods are perceived and bought. Because, as they say, "If you do good, you look good!"
We recommend having a look at their website for some ethical, meaningful Christmas shopping: each of their products, in fact, is not just beautiful and stylish but also carries a great, revolutionary story of inclusion and empowerment.
When we founded Nama, we promised ourselves to allocate at least one third of our time and resources to work on ethical and sustainable projects. We ended up spending 90% of our time supporting conscious, world-changing brands, and seeing them thriving across a constantly growing audience of environmentally and community-conscious people.
Consumers are more and more willing to know what's behind the products they buy, and we expect this attitude to consolidate across 2021, creating new occasions for sustainable brands to grow and challenging the concepts of fast-fashion and low quality, unethical products.
Also, especially for countries like Italy where small businesses and artisans play a strong role across local communities, the covid-19 situation is triggering a massive move from offline to online also for those small, traditional shops that have never considered selling online before what happened this year. We hope this will bring their high quality products to a wider audience, creating a wonderful variety of shopping alternatives for consumers that want to purchase outside of the big international marketplaces.

17. Vervaunt (UK)
Vervaunt is an ecommerce and paid media consultancy, focused on all paid channels and then replatforming, technology selection, solutions support and CX projects. Some of Vervaunt's clients include Sunspel, The Conran Shop, This Works, Bulletproof, MUJI and various others.
David Austin Roses
We recently re-launched (project management and solutions only) the David Austin Roses ecommerce website, which was a really big project and there was a lot of complexity that needed to be allowed for or brought out of Shopify.
Overall, we're pretty proud of this project and it's a good case study for a complex retailer operating on the Shopify Plus platform. Others include the re-platforming of Bulletproof.com (also Shopify Plus), The Conran Shop (Magento 2) and Sunspel (Magento 2).
2021 will be interesting - I think we'll see a lot of the same around really focusing on online, direct-to-consumer channels for brands - which has accelerated significantly this year as a result of covid-19. Our average client is a multi-channel, premium brand and we've seen this trend across pretty much all of our the ones we work with, which is understandable really.
As a result, we'll then see more focus on optimising key UX areas, on-site engagement, post-purchase CX, CRM (and retaining customers directly through associated marketing channels), strategic paid advertising etc, as well as lots of brands and retailers wanting to create an agile, flexible technology stack; which has definitely been another big trend towards the end of this year, with lots of demand for SaaS platforms in particular.
A lot of the things I think we'll see next year have already been happening for the last couple of years, it's just that covid-19 has accelerated that push for acquiring direct customers and then really focusing on retaining them and a better proportion of budget and resource being allocated to that activity.

18. Ventorq (UK)
Ventorq works with startups and established businesses as a truly independent ecommerce consultancy; trusted to help create, develop, manage and execute ecommerce solutions and digital marketing campaigns. With 15 years experience we offer unique insight and expert knowledge that resolves problems, reduces risk, optimises success and enables growth.
Memory Foam Warehouse
Ventorq has worked with Memory Foam Warehouse since 2019, delivering an ecommerce strategy that has reduced operating costs and seen revenue grow by 80%. We rebranded the business, re-platformed to Shopify and working with our partners improved and optimised marketing across channels for a better return on investment.
Despite the rising dominance of global retailers such as Amazon we predict an increase in customers support for local businesses in 2021. Businesses that invested in ecommerce prior to the pandemic have fared better by having an online shopping alternative to their physical stores.
Through brand-owned websites, SMEs can excel at building personal relationships, customer engagement and provision of services such as click and collect and curb-side pickups.
We expect to see more investment in improved websites and optimising and automating business operations. AI will continue to integrate further into the ecommerce experience. Sustainable product, processes and packaging will also be high on customers shopping considerations.

19. Signifly (DK)
Signifly has been a full-featured Shopify expert since 2013. Featuring in-house design, development and strategy teams, they have partnered with over 50 ambitious companies looking to create user friendly and high powered ecommerce platforms. Counting hubs in Copenhagen, Montréal, and Oslo, Signifly has worked with Shopify owners across Western Europe, Scandinavia, and North America to usher in a new age of digital commerce.
As an example: Ferm LIVING is all about authentic and functional design, fusing a Scandinavian mindset with global skills and traditions. Signifly helped them build a Shopify shop and online brand platform that was as functional and as beautiful as their products.
Specifically, the team took advantage of Shopify’s intuitive theme engine and crafted a scalable custom theme to support Ferm LIVING’s international growth, starting with shops in 4 markets (Denmark, Germany, the United States, and Europe). Along with the theme, we gave the client a toolbox full of sections and components that would allow them to have absolute freedom when customizing their web universe in the future - fitting any season or marketing activity.
The final website featured frontpage web product-pinned hotspots, and optimization for mobile. Ferm LIVING was able to see significant growth in basket size and sales as a result. Their new shop/website was also easier to update, increasing internal employee satisfaction.
Tomorrow’s brands will be assessed on their will and ability to offer user-friendly solutions that inspire and positively impact the masses. Sustainability is already at the forefront of peoples’ minds, and ecommerce platforms that can adapt early and show their positive impact will lead the way.
A survey done by Hotwire exemplifies this - 47% of consumers are already rejecting products or brands that have violated their values. So whether it’s exploring new products and markets, creating more productive value chains, or minimizing returns, it’s going to become imperative for brands to have sustainability built into their ecommerce models. Going green is no longer a tagline, but a necessity. If consumers are ready for change, and the planet is desperately pleading for it, companies know what they have to do.
If you’re looking for specific strategies, Signifly is in the process of creating an ebook for future-proofing ecommerce operations.
20. BYDAS (PT)
BYDAS was born in 2010 as a social media & PR focused agency. But our core business quickly shifted to web development while we also dipped our feet into ecommerce development. We were one of the first recognised Shopify Experts in Portugal, having registered in 2013.
Since then we have specialised in building custom Shopify stores, trying our best to meet our clients’ needs and requirements within the platform’s capabilities. We also provide setup support, besides the store development. Knowing the ins and outs of the Shopify dashboard, it is easy for us to guide our clients through the different stages of data entry into the store, from taxes to legal texts, payment methods and shipping information. We also develop integrations with ERPs, CRMs and various marketplaces, using the Shopify API.
One of our biggest and perhaps most challenging projects was working with a clothing brand, in which we had to develop several stores for them, and help them out with store setup and configs. We also helped them with their ERP software integration. This enabled us to get a better understanding of the Shopify API and its full capabilities. We also perfected our skills in theme customisation while working with them, by customising and developing features for around 10 themes that they have used on their stores.
The main store for them is a streetwear store - the first one we developed for them - that sells in-house brands and has gained a lot of traction since opening roughly 3 years ago, becoming their flagship store.
On the matter of predicting the year 2021 in terms of ecommerce, we expect an increase in ecommerce store development, especially due to the current global situation, which led to more and more companies switching to or creating online stores, in order to face the lack of physical store sales, due to lockdown rules in the world. So we expect a lot of work on the ecommerce front in 2021.

21. Webmefy (ES)
Webmefy is an ecommerce consulting company founded by a high experienced team of ecommerce professionals and specialized in technology, digital marketing and data & analytics. We have started as a small team and have managed to become one of the top Shopify Plus partners in Spain working with brands all over the world.
We firmly believe in - and have therefore been heavily focused on - close collaboration with our customers. We work hand in hand on ecommerce projects, understanding our customer's needs first before acting. This strategy, based on data-driven decision making processes, allows us to scale operations and optimize the results of our projects much faster.
UK fashion brand SikSilk
We have been working on many different projects. One of my favourites is a full migration to Shopify Plus with SikSilk, a UK fashion brand that has scaled their operations globally.
With Webmefy and Shopify Plus, SikSilk has been able to open new markets, manage their order volumes much faster and also control their ad spend much better, knowing at each moment how much they are spending in each campaign, controlling their results better, and understanding much faster when to act and apply corrections if needed.
In general, they have much more control over their business, they're much more efficient in their operations and they're also able to grow much faster based on the needs of the moment.
We believe that 2020 has been a great year for ecommerce. We have seen sales volumes rising as more people have been purchasing online. This has made ecommerce the place to be for all kinds of businesses.
2021 will be another year of growth and brands should be ready to understand their customers and their customer journey much better. Brands that have a scalable solution and that are working based on data are one step ahead of the competition.
Costs of running an ecommerce business are increasing and brands that are able to track their expenses, understand their CAC, their LTV and any other relevant KPIs in real-time will be able to apply the right strategies in the right moment and pivot if needed. Those brands will be ready to outgrow their competitors in 2021 and win a much bigger piece of the cake.
22. Zago (SE)
ZAGO Sweden is an ecommerce agency with over 3000 successful projects in their portfolio of stunning, highly functional websites. Through close client collaboration and tailor-made solutions, have delivered high-quality projects and become the #1 Certified Shopify Expert in Sweden. ZAGO believes in the future of ecommerce and works towards empowering businesses with a wide range of services from development to marketing.
Ecommerce no longer only concerns dedicated sites but also social media and search engines. In 2021, Google Shopping and Facebook and Instagram Shops will be indispensable sales channels for all online commerce. Social media users are not only interested in connecting with others but also want to research products and brands and even directly purchase without leaving Facebook or Instagram apps.
For its part, Google has made a major change to its Google Shopping platform by allowing any company selling products online to list its inventory for free. Merchants around the world now have the opportunity to leverage the capabilities and influence of Google and Facebook to expand their business and reach an audience already more inclined to buy from them, as well as those who are specifically looking for their products and services.
Google and social media are becoming more and more important in peoples' daily lives and it is much easier for them to be able to do everything from one single channel or website, including shopping. Offering them a simpler and faster shopping experience means making it easier for them to click the «Buy now» button.
In the future, it is essential for every company to focus on these 2 points of contact to increase its market share. Having a good marketing strategy means to target these channels well; to consider the buyer's entire journey before they even reach the company website and optimising the sales funnel accordingly.
In 2021, Google and Facebook will be key tools that help ecommerce to expand their audience and receive maximum exposure, both organically and with paid advertisement.

23. Studio Zerance (FR)
For Studio Zerance, it started in the fall of 2017, when 3 friends decided to launch a new Shopify agency with a twist (see the logo and tagline). Driven by a strong passion for ecommerce and with a lot of prior experience allowing us to propose real solutions to real pain points, we quickly started to gain traction and grew both our portfolio and our team.
Today, Studio Zerance counts 15 in-house ecommerce cats, ready to tackle any ecommerce problem and bring it to its knees with a meow. Well, not just by meowing, but also by thinking outside of Schrödinger's box and - of course - armed with the ability to execute complex solutions.
The agency offers a wide range of services. To name but a few: design, theme development, app development (both private/public), CRO, and SEO. All of which lead to adding many interesting projects to our portfolio, from booming startups to established groups, mostly ethical & DNVBs.
All of our projects are favorites at this point, with one of the most recent ones being Balzac Paris, a brand with huge potential, exceeding expectations at every turn. We took real pleasure out of working with their team, it was an outstanding collaboration with a lot of constructive back-and-forths. Their market mindset, vision and talent, combined with our technical prowess and wide exposure to ecommerce resulted in an astonishing storefront, with meticulously conceived details that truly reflect the brand and its audience.
As for 2021: this will be a year full of challenges, but what is life without a couple of those! These challenges include finding more ways to push Shopify beyond its limits by discovering/providing more user-friendly solutions to everyday problems merchants face. Also on the list is making use of all cutting-edge technologies like AR (augmented reality), 3D and other interactive techniques. All of this building towards one objective: democratizing ecommerce for everyone.

24. Unique Paris (FR)
Unique Paris is specialized in the creation of ecommerce websites. The team consists of 12 talented professionals, tech enthusiasts with a passion for ecommerce.
We've been a Shopify Partner and Shopify Plus Expert for over 3 years now, and our strength lies in building custom themes to emphasize brand storytelling and provide a fully integrated brand experience.
We aim to create innovative, consistent and high-performance online experiences by designing beautiful, easy to navigate, and memorable websites.
By implementing quality design and ecommerce best practices we assist brands in their conquest of new customers and their loyalty strategy in order to multiply sales and develop their revenues.
One of our most recent favourite projects was for Goutal Paris, a famous french perfume house. We worked with them to deliver a unique customer experience. We helped them achieve a 30% increase in their online business.
We developed features to create an immersive experience for customers: an alternative product page, an editorial template to highlight the history of the brand, a custom store locator, a mix & match page to create your very own candle… and much more.
We could also have talked about some of our other successful clients, including Puressentiel, Nutrismuscle, Vuarnet, SVR in Shopify Plus or Acuitis, Vitality, L’art du papier, Lazartigue... Go check out their stores!
This year was challenging but it led to a lot of growth in the ecommerce sector. So now, what’s to expect in 2021?
We believe that brands will have to put more effort into advanced data analytics in order to understand their customers and continue to grow.
For us, 2021 will be the year of unified commerce. We talk a lot about seamless experience across all platforms and we believe this is key in the future of the buyer’s journey.
Personalization is also becoming important. Customers are looking for innovative experiences and/or unique products: we believe that product configurators will become much more commonplace.
