If you run a brick and mortar store, you’re probably not around 24/7. Put a QR code in your shop window to let people chat with you. You’ll be able to service potential customers, even when your store's closed.

Why set up a QR code discount campaign?

A lot of brick and mortar stores are having a tough time at the moment, as lockdowns around the world are forcing them to shut their doors. But even if your store is still open, you’re probably not around 24 hours a day. And this means you’re missing out on potential customers and revenue.

Here’s a simple way to recover these potential customers in 3 steps:

  • Create a simple Messenger flow using ShopPop
  • Put up a QR code that links to this flow in your shop window
  • Offer a small discount to get people to scan it

The flow doesn’t have to be complicated, you should keep it nice and simple. Offer chat support, link to your online store, and let people exchange their email address for a small discount on a future purchase.

Here’s a visualized example of a retail QR discount campaign workflow in Messenger:

But first: if you like this article, show us some ❤️ and tweet about it by clicking here 👈

Step 1. Log into your ShopPop dashboard

Sign in to your ShopPop account, and go to ‘My Campaigns’ to get started. This is where you create new flows and start all of your chat marketing campaigns.

We added a simple ‘Retail QR discount’ template flow in ‘Templates’. This is a framework for you to edit to your liking. Select it and save it to ‘My Campaigns’ to start building a flow that works for your business.

Step 2. Choose your campaign type

There are several possible campaign types you can choose from to start your campaign. Like entry points into Messenger that start the conversation between a customer and your business.

In the case we’re discussing, we’re using a direct link to the flow that we stick behind a QR code. This QR code is printed and put up in your shop window, so customers can scan it and open a direct conversation with you.

Step 3. Write your Messenger flow accordingly

You can make your retail QR discount campaign flow as simple or complex as you’d like. We suggest you keep it short and simple.

However, we suggest you include at least the following elements:

  • Add a gallery card with buttons. Make the customer journey in Messenger more appealing by creating a gallery card with buttons to work as a menu.
  • Add images or files. Share menus or price lists in the form of images or documents.
  • Save user input in custom fields. Ask people for the information you need to process and deliver the order, and save it to their user profiles.
  • Raise conversations to Inbox. Make sure you add a ‘Raise to Inbox’ component when people get to a point in the flow where you know they require assistance from an actual person.

There’s much, much more you can do, of course. However, we suggest you keep your flow neat and tidy to provide the best customer experience in chat.

You can use the ‘Retail QR Discount Template’ in ShopPop's ‘Templates’ section as an out-of-the-box solution, too. Just change the copy and content in this flow so it suits your shop’s needs.

Step 4. Launch your retail QR discount campaign

Ready? The only thing left to do is to save the flow, copy the link to it, and paste it in a QR code generator.

There are lots of these available online, so find one that generates a code you like. Next up, just print the QR code, and stick it in your shop window. All set! You’ve just become available for new customers, 24/7.

How you'll benefit from this campaign

The main benefit of setting up a retail QR discount campaign on Messenger using ShopPop? You’ll never miss out on potential customers and revenue just because your store’s closed.

Even if your brick & mortar store is currently closed, you can still service your customers, drive traffic to your webshop and build out your email list.

What can you expect from this campaign?

  • More visitors to your webshop
  • Service potential customers outside opening hours
  • Grow your email list in return for a small discount
  • Open up a direct channel for sales and support

Best of all, you can set this up quite easily in minutes using ShopPop.

If you need any help with setting up your retail QR discount campaign, don't hesitate to get in touch. Our customer success team is more than happy to help you out!

P.s. If you’re in the EU, this campaign wont work for your business... for now. As Facebook is making Messenger compliant with EU privacy regulations, linking directly to a flow will only be possible again in Q2 2021, when the Receive API is reinstated. You can read more here.
